Team Needs: Indianapolis Colts

Hurtin' for: another defensive end
Smaller players mean more speed on the outside of the Colts' defensive line, but they also mean a greater propensity to wear down. Dwight Freeney has been nagged by injuries in each of the past two training camps and ended up missing nearly half of 2007 after breaking his foot. Robert Mathis missed the final three games of the regular season and has seen his sack total drop in each of his two seasons as a starter from a career-high 11.5 in 2005.

Should be lookin' for: interior blockers
Indianapolis let starting right guard Jake Scott leave for division-rival Tennessee, which happens to be the leading importer of former Colts. Dylan Gandy has started 14 games in his three seasons with the team and seems likely to step in, but the only other guards on the roster – excepting starter Ryan Lilja – have zero regular-season experience in the NFL. Beyond that, Jeff Saturday is the only center and will turn 33 in June.

Will likely settle for: another receiver
The news surrounding Marvin Harrison is not good with reports of surgery on his right knee joining left-knee trouble that ate up most of his 2007. The Colts picked up Anthony Gonzalez in Round 1 last year to groom as an eventual starter, and Roy Hall and Devin Aromashodu remain developmental possibilities. This offense is clearly at its peak, though, when it can run out strong multi-receiver sets – a.k.a., those that don't include Aaron Moorehead. It wouldn't be surprising to see the Colts draft a wideout as early as Round 2 (the team's first selection), even though defensive end is a more pressing need.
