Team Needs: Miami Dolphins |
|
Hurtin' for: you name it
The new management in
Miami
has done a lot of renovating with its roster so far, but how many solid starters has that left. The current setup relies heavily on a second-year quarterback who started four games last season, boasts Ted Ginn Jr. and Ernest Wilford as top receivers, needs offensive linemen, corner and maybe a linebacker or two, and lacks quality depth. Even at running back, the young star is coming off an ACL tear.
Should be lookin' for: as many picks as possible
The Dolphins should ignore the draft value chart and take a package of selections if the Cowboys are really offering it. Dallas' bundle would include two late first-rounders (22 and 28), which would still offer more value to a team that so clearly needs to rebuild than keeping the top pick. It would also cost the team much less contractually. I'd be tempted to accept the offer even if it were only the two first-round picks for my one.
Will likely settle for: as much new talent as it can get
If
Miami
holds on to the top pick it sure looks like it will be a defensive player. Matt Ryan could be a possibility, but Chris Long, Vernon Gholston, Glenn Dorsey and Sedrick Ellis look like much safer bets to succeed. After Round 1, don't be surprised if the Dolphins trade down in ensuing rounds to acquire more picks and potentially higher ones in 2009.
