Strengths: Size, athleticism, continues to pick up yardage after contact
Weaknesses: Doesn’t use size to full advantage, lacks breakaway speed

Statline: As a senior at Tulane, rushed for 2,127 yards and 23 touchdowns in 12 games. For his four-year career, accumulated 5,610 yards from scrimmage on 936 touches and scored 44 touchdowns.

Technique: Good size, good hands, good burst, hard runner; jack of all trades but master of none

Known Injuries: Missed final three games of his junior season in 2006 after suffering a torn meniscus and PCL in his left knee.

Combine / Workout Assessment: COMING SOON

Analysis: Forte is a relatively complete back, with the size and drive to run effectively inside and deceptive speed that allows him to burst through the hole. However, he doesn’t have true breakaway speed (though a 4.46 at the Combine may help convince some teams otherwise) and isn’t the pure power runner his size might lead you to believe. Those negatives sound a bit nit-picky, and Forte certainly helped his cause with an impressive week of practice at the Senior Bowl. He won’t enter the NFL with the same fanfare as McFadden, Mendenhall, or Stewart, but he has the skills to be every bit as effective over the long haul.
