Strengths: Tackling
Weaknesses: Size

Statline: Hayes finished 2007 with 80 tackles and five sacks.

Technique:

Haynes will line up as a weakside backer in a 4-3 or an inside man in a 3-4.

Known Injuries:

Suffered a knee injury in 2006 which cost him three games.

Combine / Workout Assessment: Coming Soon.

Analysis: Hayes’ best physical attribute is his speed, which allows him to go sideline to sideline effectively. However, his lack of size makes life difficult against the run because blockers can control him, a fact which will make him a middle-round pick this April. Gino was a versatile player in college, lining up at every linebacking position. That will come in handy as scouts evaluate him because he’ll now be on every team’s draft board, regardless of which base defense they employ. Despite the concerns about his size, Haynes should go off the board by the end of the fourth round.
