3-Cone: NA

Strengths: Quick off the ball.
Weaknesses: Lower body.

Statline: Kentwan had 59 tackles and 3.5 sacks last season.

Technique: Balmer relies on his quickness to shoot gaps effectively.

Known Injuries: Knee surgery following the 2005 season.

Combine / Workout Assessment: Coming soon.

Analysis: Kentwan has received first-round grades from scouts, although he isn’t seen as a blue-chip prospect like Glenn Dorsey and, in the eyes of some, Sedrick Ellis. Teams will love his ability to disrupt plays with his quickness off the ball and solid upper-body strength. However, he put together only one really impressive season at North Carolina, and that type of resume worries scouts who value consistency. Balmer also needs too add some lower-body strength, though he has the frame to do it. He may end up at a guy who can play both tackle and end at the pro level, but it appears unlikely he’ll dominate at either position.

Recent News:
Balmer went to the Niners at pick No. 29 in the first round on Saturday.
Insight: He could project at end or nose tackle in San Francisco's 3-4 base defense, but Balmer seems to fit better at end. He'll likely have to beat out Isaac Sopoaga for a starting job this season. (Matt Schauf/SportsBuff.com)
