![]() Weaknesses: Speed. Statline: Lofton racked up 157 tackles and three interceptions in 2007. Technique: Lofton is quick to react to plays and has solid tackling mechanics. Known Injuries: None. Combine / Workout Assessment: COMING SOON Analysis: Teams are always looking for tough, smart players at inside linebacker, and Curtis fits that bill. That is probably why he was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. Playing on the inside will help mask his speed deficiencies and allow his football intelligence to be put to use. He can play in either the 3-4 or 4-3 scheme and would really shine if he’s teams with some mammoth defensive tackles who could eat up double teams. In the end, Lofton’s lack of speed will keep him out of the first round because it limits his upside; however, he was too productive in college to fall much farther than that. Recent News:
Lofton went to the Falcons as the 37th pick overall on Saturday.
Insight: The former Sooner could work inside or outside in Atlanta. If he has a chance to start right away, it would most likely be on the weak side, though coaches probably see him as Keith Brooking's eventual replacement in the middle.
