Strengths: Outstanding frame with long arms, excellent strength.
Weaknesses: Inexperienced; technique needs refinement.

Statline: Was All-Big East and voted Pitt’s Most Improved Player for 2007, anchoring an offense that produced 141 rushing yards per game. Allowed 12.5 sacks in two seasons as the Panthers’ starting left tackle.

Technique: Has the frame to be a dominant run-blocker and above-average pass protector at left tackle.

Known Injuries: Played through an ankle sprain in 2006.

Combine / Workout Assessment: COMING SOON

Analysis: Otah has the frame NFL general managers picture for their left tackle, but he is still a developing talent. That’s good news if you believe he has yet to reach his full potential, which is a distinct possibility since he’s only been playing football since his senior year in high school. His technique needs work and he’s not as quick as some of the other elite linemen in this class. However, he can be a classic mauler in the running game and his size and long arms should allow him to be an above-average pass protector as well—especially as his technique and football awareness are developed. Otah’s inexperience may force him to begin his career on the right side, as he has struggled with speed rushers in the past. But his size and vast potential will most almost certainly make him a first-round pick, and he’ll be more than serviceable as he continues to develop. And the tangy zip of upside found in his unique physical gifts may shoot him ahead of some of his more polished classmates on Draft Day.

Recent News:
The Carolina Panthers, after trading with the Philadelphia Eagles, select the Pittsburgh OT with the 19th pick in Saturday's NFL Draft.
Insight: Otah helps shore up a troubling offensive line and with the addition of RB Jonathan Stewart earlier in the draft allows Carolina head coach John Fox to establish the smashmouth, run-the-ball offense that he loves to run. (Michael Hicks/SportsBuff.com)
