Strengths: Pass blocking.
Weaknesses: Injury concerns.

Statline: NA

Technique:
Young has a strong base and sets up quickly when pass blocking. He isn't a mauler, so in the running game he relies more on technique.

Known Injuries:

Missed the final six games of last season with a torn quadriceps muscle in his left leg. He also had shoulder surgery in January 2007.

Combine / Workout Assessment: COMING SOON

Analysis: The quad injury Young suffered at the end of his senior season will impact his draft standing, but his collegiate resume is so strong that it seems unlikely he’ll fall out of the middle rounds. Eric isn’t an overpowering blocker, but he was a second-team All SEC member last season despite his injury, and the Volunteers averaged almost 20 more yards per game when he was in the lineup. Adding to Young’s value is the fact he started at tackle during his days in Knoxville. And although he projects to be a guard in the NFL, that versatility will be coveted by pro teams looking to add depth in draft day.

Recent News:
Missed the last six games in 2007 with a torn quadriceps, but still a punishing blocker. Registered 148 knockdowns in last two seasons for Vols.
