![]() Weaknesses: A bit small to be a pure NFL fullback, and too slow to be an NFL tailback Statline: Finished his four-year career at Arkansas with more receiving yardage (1,064 on 103 catches) than rushing yardage (922 on 193 carries). Scored 11 rushing touchdowns and another 11 receiving. Technique: Undersized to be a pure fullback, but a willing blocker and outstanding receiver in the classic mold of a West Coast offense fullback. Known Injuries: Missed final four games of 2006 with a deep thigh bruise. Fractured three vertebrae in 2004 and was expected to miss six to eight weeks, but instead missed just one game. Combine / Workout Assessment: COMING SOON Analysis: Not only was Hillis the lead blocker for Darren McFadden and Felix Jones, he was a solid pass-catcher out of the backfield and also the Razorbacks’ primary punt returner. It’s that kind of versatility that will endear him to coaches seeking a way to get the most out of a 53-man roster. Hillis is a bit small for a pure NFL fullback, and he may have trouble with one-on-one blocking at the next level. He’s also an adequate ball-carrier but that won’t be his forte in the NFL. However, his skills as a pass catcher have drawn comparisons to last year’s classic WCO fullback, Brian Leonard, and that may be how NFL teams view his route to the league. Recent News:
Hillis was the guy that helped to open the holes for Darren McFadden and Felix Jones, but showed his lack of ability to catch passes at his Pro-Day workout.
Insight: Still projected as the No. 2 fullback, Hillis has great size (6-1,235), speed (4.57 40), strength (26 reps on the bench) and athletic ability (35-inch vertical). (Marc Pruitt/SportsBuff.com) More Reports2008-04-08 06:51:38 |
