![]() Weaknesses: Lacks make-up speed, not physical for his size. Statline: Recorded 13 picks in three seasons at Kansas, including a 60-yard touchdown in the Orange Bowl with his final collegiate pilfer. Technique: May be best suited for zone coverage in the pros. Known Injuries: None. Combine / Workout Assessment: COMING SOON Analysis: After helping Kansas cap a remarkable season with his Orange Bowl heroics, Talib opted to bypass his senior season and turn pro. While the NFL Draft Advisory Board gave him a second-round evaluation, multiple mocks have him going off the board in the first round. While he is unquestionably a playmaker, it’s more likely his versatility—he played some wide receiver and returned kicks for the Jayhawks—and prototypical size that has boosted his draft status. Talib still gets beat deep and doesn’t posses great make-up speed, but leading the Big 12 in passes defended two straight seasons proves he makes plays in front of him. Despite his size he’s not particularly physical, but each negative can be answered with this: Talib makes plays. His gambling might frustrate some defensive coaches, but when he’s heading the other way with a pick-six all will be good. Recent News:
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Talib with the 20th pick in the first round of Saturday's NFL Draft.
Insight: Ronde Barber isn't getting any younger so Talib makes sense here. At Kansas, he also contributed on offense and special teams, so he could be a versatile asset for Tampa Bay. (Michael Hicks/SportsBuff.com) More Reports2008-04-26 14:23:16 |
