![]() Weaknesses: Lacks speed to be a true deep threat. Statline: Led Aggies with 49 catches as a junior. Scored 10 touchdowns and averaged almost 12 yards per catch for his career. Technique: Effective in any role: slot receiver, in motion, on the line of scrimmage. Known Injuries: None. Combine / Workout Assessment: COMING SOON Analysis: Bennett is that rarest of breeds, a tight end who’s equally effective as a blocker in the running game or as a receiver in the passing game. While that versatility makes him a highly sought after commodity, it doesn’t mean he’s a Kellen Winslow/Jonathan Ogden hybrid. Bennett is a good receiver, a large target capable of adjusting to the ball, but he doesn’t have the blazing speed to get open deep. He’s also a willing blocker capable of overpowering defenders with his size and strength. A former basketball star, Bennett is athletic enough to make plays down the field, and what coach is going to frown upon a “skill” position player who actually enjoys blocking? He may require some time to adjust to the next level, but all the tools are there for Bennett to be an extremely effective every-down tight end. Recent News:
Bennett got scooped up by the Cowboys with pick No. 61 and will add depth for Jason Witten and Anthony Fasano.
Insight: Bennett is an exceptional athlete that also played two years of basketball for the Aggies, so Jerry Jones, Wade Phillips, and Jason Garrett might see a little of Antonio Gates in him. (Marc Pruitt/SportsBuff.com) More Reports2008-04-27 07:31:39 |
