Strengths: Size. Footwork. Intelligence.
Weaknesses: Durability is a minor concern.

Statline: NA

Technique: Jake is a great pass blocker and did well in Michigan's zone-blocking system.

Known Injuries: Long missed seven games in 2005 with an ankle injury.

Combine / Workout Assessment: COMING SOON

Analysis: Long would have been a first-round pick if a year ago he would have declared for the draft, but completing his senior season at Michigan solidified his credentials as an elite prospect. Jake has everything scouts look for in a tackle, including long arms, excellent technique and a genuine mean streak when on the field. His five years in Ann Arbor (he was redshirted as a true freshman) gave him plenty of time to refine his skills at a high level and develop an understanding of the nuances of his position. Due to his freakish combination of size, footwork and intelligence, Long will almost certainly end up as a left tackle in the NFL and could be a starter as soon as 2008 if he lands with a team in need of one.

Recent News:
The pick was already in, but now it's official. The Miami Dolphins have selected Long with the No. 1 pick in this weekend's NFL Draft. He should be an anchor on the O-line for years to come. (Michael Hicks/SportsBuff.com)
