Strengths: The total package, with size, speed, vision, burst, and soft hands.
Weaknesses: Aggressive running style may lead to extra wear and tear. Was not lone feature back until final season.

Statline: Set a school record with 1,722 rushing yards (132.5 yards per game) and scored 13 touchdowns (two receiving).

Technique: Punishing runner who go down on initial contact—but extra effort means he absorbs more hits.

Known Injuries: Assorted bumps and bruises as well as minor nagging ankle injuries during career.

Combine / Workout Assessment: COMING SOON

Analysis: Fresh off 253 yards in his Duck finale, Stewart will bypass his senior season for a spot in the first round of the NFL draft. He has demonstrated aptitude at every prerequisite for a stud running back, and his size/speed combination has drawn comparisons to vintage Jamal Lewis. Stewart also possesses soft hands and has demonstrated both vision and patience as a runner; in other words, he’s the kind of every-down back coaches dream about. The only knock anyone can put on him is that while he’s capable of eluding tacklers he’s too willing to run through them—a move he could get away with in the Pac-10 but which might not play as well on the pro level. Nonetheless, Stewart’s skills translate extremely well to the NFL, and he’ll bring his own version of the Daily Show to Sundays this fall.

Recent News:
The Carolina Panthers with the 13th pick in the first round of Saturday's NFL Draft selects the Oregon tailback, a third-team All-American.
Insight: Stewart is coming off a toe injury, so going to a team that runs on grass is probably a good thing. Carolina fills a need by replacing the departed DeShaun Foster, who left via free agency for San Francisco. He'll team up with DeAngelo Williams. The Panthers were expected to draft a RB, but not necessarily in the first round. (Michael Hicks/SportsBuff.com)
