![]() Weaknesses: Injury history. Lacks top-notch arm. Statline: 4,507 passing yards with 31 TDs and 19 INTs as senior. Completion percentage of 59.3 and quarterback rating of 127. Technique: Classic drop-back passer. Known Injuries: Suffered high ankle sprain and broken left foot during junior season. Combine / Workout Assessment: COMING SOON Analysis: After an impressive senior season that saw him shine on big stages and make a run at the Heisman, Ryan is considered the top quarterback available in this year’s draft. He looks like a lock to be top-10 pick, especially with the glut of teams looking to upgrade under center. His durability and concerns about his arm strength prevent him from being graded as a true blue-chip prospect, although he is strong enough to make all the throws required of a starter in the NFL. He has also been lauded for displaying excellent leadership abilities, both on and off the field, at Boston College. And while he’ll never be confused with the Vick brothers in terms of speed, he is mobile enough to move the pocket and even run for the occasional first down. The feel among scouts is that he will end up as a quality starter with a long career. Recent News:
The Atlanta Falcons selected Boston College QB Matt Ryan with the No. 3 pick in Saturday's NFL Draft.
Insight: Ryan may or may not be the best QB in this year's draft, depending on who you ask, but what he gives the Falcons is a breath of fresh air. The BC signal-caller allows Atlanta and owner Arthur Blank to move on from the Michael Vick debacle. More Reports2008-04-26 12:20:10 |
